Matthew comes to Premier Athletics already an accomplished athlete. He brings a National Championship in the 400m as last year's USATF Junior Olympics Bantam 400m Champion. Though we are very familiar with him (as he was a rival of Jevon Leonard), he looks to continue his winning ways as part of our team now. This year, he adds to his speedy repertoire the 80m hurdles. And he's taken off in that event as well. As a solid sprinter, he also solidifies our nationally ranked 4 x 400m relay.
"When you get an athlete like Matthew, who has already won a National Championship, it's a great responsibility. He already knows how to win, and he also has a winning formula. As a Coach, you just try to stay out of the way and not hinder his progress. Watching him transition to our team, and working with his coaches has been a privilege for me. Working with Matthew, his coaches, and his Mom has already been beneficial to Premier Athletics. I also hope we have been as beneficial to him. He'll be a great athlete for years to come, and we hope we play a huge part in that", says Coach Charles.
