Premier Performances at Boys & Girls Invite

Faith & Rayevan post Nationally ranked 1500m times

May 20th, 2012

In a return to Westlake High School for the second meet of the season, the Boys & Girls Club Invitational showcased some of the best summer youth talent this early in the season. And Premier Athletics highlighted the event with some very impressive performance.

Leading the way for the Girls were Faith Hill and Rayevan Freeman in the 1500m run. Faith won the event, with Rayevan taking second. But both girl's times of 5:21 and 5:23 were ranked in the Top 5 times nationally for their age group. Also leading the ladies was Adrienne Gilbert, winning the Shot Put and the Discus in her summer debut.

Jevon Leonard wins 800m and is part of winning relay

For the boys, Jevon Leonard won the 800m dash and led off the Midget Boys 4 x 400m winning relay. He was part of an impressive Midget Boys display for the meet. Matthew Harris won the 80m Hurdles (and part of the 4 x 400m relay), Bruce Mattox took two bronze medals (3rd) in the 400m and the 200m, while also anchoring both Midget Boys relays to wins. And probably most impressive on the final day of competition was having 5 of our athletes in the 200m final (Greg Hill, Bruce Mattox, Jalen Roach, Jaylen Lowe, and Matthew Harris).

In the end, the team walked away with 21 individual medals, 3 relay wins, four 2nd place relays, and a 3rd place B-Team relay for the Midget Boys 4 x 400m relay.
